Bada Imambara is built by the Nawab of Awadh, Asaf -ud-Daula in the year 1784. The complex also includes the large Asfi mosque, the Bhul-Bhulayah (the labyrinth) and a summer palace with running water. The architecture of Bara Immambara is significance of Indo-Islamic civilization.
Chota Immambara is on he West side of Bara Immambara built by the third nawab of Awadh Mohammad ali shah in 1840. The real name of this Immambara is Husainabad Immambara. Along with the numerous decorative, elaborate collection of tazias and chandeliers from India and abroad, the silver throne of Nawab Mohammad Ali Shah is on display here. The number of minarets amongst the golden main dome add to the beauty. Messages from the Holy Quoran inscribed on the walls are examples of fine calligraphy. Inside, are the tombs of Nawab Mohammad Ali Shah and his mother.
Zoo and Museum
The Lucknow zoo is known by the name of Dudhwa of 238 km north of Lucknow. This star attraction is the zoo is Royal Bengal tiger. About 100 tigers are believed to still roam this region. The Indian rhino was also introduced here to save it from extinction.
